You and your family members must provide a police certificate when applying to become a permanent resident or a Canadian citizen. We may request a certificate when you apply as a guest, student, or temporary worker.
A police certificate is a statement stating you do not have a criminal record, or a copy of your criminal record if you have. They assist us in determining if you are inadmissible to Canada for whatever reason.
Each country and region has its own set of police certifications. They may be referred to as: police clearance certificates.

● excerpts from judicial records or other names
● If your certificate is in a language other than English or French, submit it together with a certified translator’s translation.
Depending on the programme, you and any family members 18 or older may be required to obtain a police certificate.
Varying programmes have different deadlines for submitting your police certificate (s).
You have 90 days to submit your police certificate if you are an Express Entry candidate. To avoid delays, begin your police check as soon as you enter the pool.
