Canada Childcare (Nanny) & Home Support Worker Program
The Canada Childcare (Nanny) & Home Support Worker Program, specifically the Home Child Care Provider Pilot Program launched in June 2019, is tailored for foreign nationals with work experience in NOC 11 or related education.
This pilot initiative aims to bring home childcare providers to Canada on temporary work permits, with the potential to apply for permanent residency after accumulating sufficient work experience. The Home Childcare Pilot is not accepting any more applications, while the Home Support Worker Pilot is still open.

This pilot program is designed to bring home child care providers to Canada on temporary work permits, with the possibility of applying for permanent residency after gaining enough work experience.
What does the Pilot offer?
The new programs change two key issues from previous career pilot programs:
The ability to change carer work: Carer programs have previously been restricted. cited for forcing carers into single-family homes, thereby creating an environment conducive to workplace abuse. New pilot projects will make it easier for carers to change employers.
Accompanying Family Members: In previous programs, spouses/partners and children did not necessarily have to accompany carers to Canada. Under the new programs, family members will be able to accompany carers and can apply for an open work permit and/or study permit.
Other Career Options
In addition to the Home Child Care Support Pilot, the government is also launching the Home Support Worker Pilot. These two pilots should be similar, with in-house support staff targeting those with experience in NOC 12 rather than NOC 11.
