The Super Visa Program allows your grandparents and parents to visit Canada as a long-term visitor. If the applicant gets this VISA, they would not have to renew it after six months because they get a multi-entry visitor visa. This SUPER visa is valid for about two years and has an expiry date of up to ten years. You can easily apply on paper or online to get your grandparents/parents a super visa. However, there are some requirements that need to be fulfilled to apply.

There is one Major Prerequisite:

• The grandparent or parent has to be related to a permanent resident of Canada or a Canadian citizen.
• The grandparents and parents are eligible for a multiple-entry visa for at least 10 years depending on the circumstances.
• The parent or grandparents can visit their family for up to two years without renewing the status.
• Of course, the immigration officers will consider many things before they let the grandparents/parents come to Canada.
• The visitor should prove that they are a genuine visitor who will leave the country after the visit.

The immigration officer looks at the following things when you apply for a super visa:

  • The purpose of visit (common in most countries)
  • Finances (you should be able to survive and thrive in Canada with the money you have)
  • Your relationship with the person living in Canada
  • Economic/political stability of the native country
  • An invitation letter from the person who will be hosting you
  • A proof that the grandchild/child has enough income to take care of you while you are in Canada
  • A written statement from the grandchild/child that they will offer financial support
  • Medical insurance coverage (for a year)
  • Immigration medical exam
