Moving to a different country and leaving your family behind can be an overwhelming and difficult feeling. The Government of Canada detests the idea of witnessing this drastic change and aspires to reunite families in the best possible way. The good news is that some family members may qualify to move to Canada on a long-term-basis. They are also qualified to become permanent residents of Canada under family class category.
Once you achieve the permanent residency status, you can study, work, and live in Canada and there will be no need to apply for a visitor visa.
Requirements for Family Sponsorship
However, family sponsorship has some requirements to fulfil. The sponsor should have a minimum/basic income to apply for family sponsorship. Moreover, you must check the application, requirements, and eligibility before applying for sponsorship.
The applicant can be eligible to sponsor a spouse, child or even a common-law partner living inside or outside Canada. You must be a permanent resident or a Canadian citizen. In addition, you should be 18 years or older to apply for family sponsorship.
Besides these requirements, your relatives should also pass the criminal record, health examination, and background checks.
You should be able to provide shelter, food, and clothing to your relatives.
You should have enough money to support your relatives so that they do not seek financial aid from the government.
If these basic requirements are met, nothing can stop you from bringing your family to Canada.
Eligible Relationships Accepted by the Government of Canada for Sponsorship:
• Conjugal partner
• Spouse
• Grandparents
• Parents
• Common-law partner
• Dependent children
• Brother and Sister
• Relatives
• Orphan nephews and niece
Bringing home a family member can be a joyous moment for you, but you have to promise that you CAN support them financially. You will have to show a proof of your income and it should meet the basic requirements. If you can take care of your relatives/family members and are a permanent resident/citizen of Canada, family sponsorship is possible.
Note: You will not be eligible for a tax receipt.
